MLM Lead Capture – How and Why

In a previous post you learned how the key to your success is primarily based on you receiving quality mlm training.

In this post I’m going to talk about lead capture.  Now I know you’re probably thinking I haven’t even taught you how to generate leads yet.  That’s because if you don’t have a way to capture your lead’s information, at the least their name and email address, then you don’t need to be generating leads yet!  In fact, I will probably teach you almost everything else about setting up your marketing system before I start teaching you about lead generation.

OK, so how do we capture mlm leads and why do we want to?

The reason we want to capture our lead’s information is so we can keep in touch with that lead through email and/or telephone in order to build a relationship with that lead.  You see it is a sad fact that 95-99% of the leads who see your mlm business opportunity will not join your business!  Now let me ask you, “Do you want to just disregard that 95-99% who said no?”  Here’s why.  In case you haven’t figured it out there are literally thousands and thousands of other people promoting the exact same mlm business opportunity as you.  So it doesn’t matter how great you product is or how awesome your compensation plan is because your prospect is hearing the same thing from thousands of others.

So why would someone decide to join your organization?  They won’t unless you either just get lucky or if you set yourself apart from the crowd.  By building a relationship over time with your prospect you’re going to show them that you have more to offer than the other people.  You have to provide your prospect with valuable information that will benefit them whether they join your company or not.  You have to show them that you are truly concerned about their success in mlm and that you’re the person who is there to lead them on their path to success.  You need to get to know them as a person and not just as a prospect.  Find out their goals in life as well as their fears and concerns.  In other words, become their friend and mentor.

You can’t do any of those things if you’re not capturing your lead’s contact information.  So how do you capture mlm leads?

I won’t go into a lot of detail here because I’m sure most of you already know about lead capture but here’s a quick overview.

Instead of sending your leads directly to your website you want to send them to what’s known as a lead capture page.  A lead capture page is basically a small one page website that contains a form that the prospect can use to enter their name and email address(or more information if you choose) in order to request more information about your opportunity.  Once they click the button to submit their information it will be captured by an autoresponder that will allow you to follow-up with that person and build that relationship we talked about in an earlier post.

There’s a lot that goes into creating a quality mlm lead capture page that will increase your opt-in rate so I’ll leave that to another post.

One note, your mlm company may provide you with a company hosted lead capture system.  You will want to create your own system and use it because all the leads you capture will be yours forever regardless if your current company fails or if you decide you want to switch to a different company.
